Halifax Online Choir - Specialmoves
In case X-Factor hasn’t quite got you in the mood for singing your heart out, then perhaps the prospect of raising £100k for Save the Children will. We’ve been working closely with Adam&Eve and Halifax to create a digital platform that will keep on giving this Christmas.
Visit the site and join the Halifax Choir: record your own video and create a choir of people from the recordings submitted. Choirs can be made up of your Facebook friends or complete strangers.
‘Like’ the site or a choir on Facebook and Halifax will donate £1, sing along to ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ and they’ll donate £2, invite a friend and they’ll give £1. Easy.
The site features backing music from the real Halifax choir, and in order to sound as good as them, we‘ve included a pitch detection tool that will monitor the pitch of your performance. We also built a nifty interface on the homepage that allows you to hear the individual voices on rollover, and view the choirs that have been created.
Another nice touch is that the home page videos are synced to bring all the sounds and picture stogether seamlessly. With the extra dimension of the donations being added to the total at different points throughout the site, the project was technically challenging and involved extensive Facebook testing.
With so much user-generated content, moderation is crucial, so we built a moderation tool for administrators to view clips, and then accept or reject them. Once a choir is approved, it’s posted to your Facebook wall for all to see.
